I am happy to inform you that an excellent prospectus for the academic year 2023-24 of Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and Forestry, Bharsar for admission to various academic programs of UG, PG and Ph D has been prepared by our University faculty. As the Vice-Chancellor, I feel proud of our university progress and achievements, and I am confident that the university will continue to provide par excellence in education to our students.

About Us

VCSG Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and forestry

Hills cover major part of Uttarakhand State. About 65% of the total geographical area is under forest. For myriad reasons, agriculture in hill region of the State has been at subsistence level. However, horticulture and forestry are the two major sectors that hold enormous potential for sustainable growth. With a view to develop these sectors through scientific interventions, the State Government has established Uttarakhand University of Horticulture & Forestry (UUHF) by an Act of State Legislative Assembly [The Uttarakhand Krishi Evam Prodyogik Vishwavidhyalaya (Amendment) Act, 2011 {Uttarakhand Act No.13 of 2011}] dated 28th April, 2011 with Head Quarter at Bharsar,Pauri Garhwal. The Notification No. 732/XIII-II/2011-12(02)/2011, dated 26th September, 2011 has also been issued in this regard by the State Government. With the establishment of UUHF, various campuses, Colleges, Research Centres and KVKs viz., Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali College of Horticulture, Bharsar; Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Distt. Pauri Garhwal; College of Forestry & Hill Agriculture, Ranichauri; Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Distt. Tehri Garhwal; Research Centers at Kanatal and Gaja (Tehri Garhwal) of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology have been merged with UUHF.

Vision

To provide opportunities for the citizens of the state and the country for education in the field of Agriculture, Horticulture & Forestry in its broad sense and to promote research and extension programmes in Agriculture, Horticulture & Forestry. Strengthen UG and PG teaching through periodic revision of syllabi to meet the challenges in fast changing scenario of agriculture.
To establish the required infrastructure to conduct location specific research in the field of Horticulture, Forestry and Hill agriculture
To generate technologies to improve the production and income of the farmers.
To need the assistance of the development departments of the Government and other agencies to test and disseminate the improved technologies developed.
To provide opportunities for rural youth and women for learning and adoption of improved agro-technologies.
To revitalize the extension activities through the creation of specific infrastructure.

Mandate

The principal mandate of the university is sustainable development of horticulture, hill agriculture and forestry sectors through teaching, research and extension. More specifically, the mandate encompasses:

Development of qualified professionals in Horticulture, Forestry, Agriculture, Food Science & Technology, Medicinal & Aromatic Plants Sciences.
Development of Horticulture and Forestry sectors on sustainable basis through research interventions.
